Summer Lovin

Hey there beauty queens! I hope everyone had a great weekend and enjoyed the gorgeous weather. Now that summer is here it’s the perfect time to try cute new hairstyles and create fun makeup looks! Today in Chicago it was a hot 90 degrees which is AMAZING but not always the best if you have long hair. I normally wear my hair down because what is the point of having gorgeous long hair if you don’t show it?! In hot weather though, sometimes you just need to put it up to prevent yourself from over sweating and going insane. Today I decided to try out a new hairdo.. a half-down/half-up braided style. I always love wearing my hair in a braid, especially in the summer because it is fun, youthful, and carefree. I also want to show off my length (it has taken 2 years to get my hair as long as it is!) so I think half-down/half-up is just perfect. I also just got the new Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette and decided to try it out today!

Above is the before and after of my hair today. The hairstyle in the “before” picture is my typical go-to. I start off by blow-drying my hair, then I twist it and wrap it up in a bun, securing it with a pony-tail holder. I leave it in a bun for about 30 minutes and once I let it down it has a beautiful, natural wave.

In the “after” photo, I simply created 2 small braids, (on one side I took a small section from the front and created a dutch braid, which is essentially the same as a french braid except you braid it underhanded. On the second side I took a small section and created a french braid…I wanted both sides to look a bit different to make it more exciting) secured them with an elastic, and connected the 2 in the back, securing them with a pony-tail holder. I then braided the remaining pieces and did not secure them so it could be a more natural style.

Makeup How To:

Face- I first applied Giorgio Armani Luminessence CC’ Color Control Bright Moisturizer SPF 35 followed by Dior Glow Maximizer Primer. Second, I combined Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk Foundation in shade 5 with Giorgio Armani’s Maestro Bronzer. I then applied Cle de Peau concealer under my eyes to reduce any discoloration. I also applied it on my eyelid as a primer. Following that I contoured my face using RCMA Makeup Highlight and Contouring Palette for my highlights (mixing the two lightest shades), and I used the darkest shade for my contour.  Then I used Ben Nye Translucent Powder in Neutral to set my makeup. I used Mac Wash & Dry Bronzing Powder to further accentuate my cheekbones. After, I applied Copacabana by Nars as my illuminator above cheeks, on my nose, and forehead.

Eyes- As mentioned above, I applied my Cle de Peau concealer as my eye primer. For my eyeshadow I used the Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette. I applied the shade “thirteen” to highlight my brow-bone and the inner corner of my eyelids.  Then, I applied “high” to my eyelid, “dirtysweet” in the center of my eyelid, and “liar” from my naked 3 palette in the crease and outer v of my eyelid. I then tight-lined (eyeliner in bottom and upper waterline) with Chanel Le Crayon Khol Intense Eye Pencil Noir. Following that I created a natural cat eye above my upper lash-line, using Make Up For Ever Graphic Liner. I then curled my lashes with my Billy B Beauty’s Eyelash Curler and applied Tarte MultiplEYE-prime followed by Lights, Camera, Flashes by Tarte. I took a small brush and outlined my brows with Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Blonde and Giorgio Armani Eye & Brow Maestro in 06 then filled them in with Brow Bar To Go by Whitening Lightning on my eyebrows, followed by Make Up For Ever Brow Seal.

Lips- Tea Rose by Laura Mercier and Rule34 Naked Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss by Urban Decay
