Hello darlings!! In 3 days I am leaving for Greece and I decided it would be a great time for a “beach glamour” post. Many girls and women go to the beach thinking “I shouldn’t wear any makeup at all” and others think it’s perfectly okay to go with a full face of makeup on. My opinion is that if you like wearing makeup, it’s fine to wear a little on the beach! The most important thing to remember though, is that less is more, especially with beach makeup. You’re on the beach tanning and sweating, going in and out of the ocean, and a face that is dripping with foundation and smeared eyeliner/mascara with raccoon eyes is not too cute. Last summer (thanks to my dermatologist) I discovered BB cream with SPF that works as a tinted moisturizer and sunscreen! I was soon hooked on this product. So my advice for beach makeup is this: wear a BB or CC cream with SPF (it covers any red spots or skin imperfections, it looks natural, and it protects against sun damage), wear a waterproof mascara (avoid the raccoon eyes), apply a neutral lip gloss, and you are all set for a beautiful makeup beach look! I occasionally wear a hint of cream blush and fill in my brows, however that comes off as soon as I go for a swim. Blush and filling in your eyebrows are not necessary for makeup on the beach, but it’s just my preference. My other tips to look great on the beach are: 1. bring your favorite pair of sunglasses 2. don’t forget a cute beach bag 3. wear a comfortable (and fashionable) pair of flip flops 4. wear a pretty and hopefully strapless bikini (to avoid tan lines) 5. be sure to wear your cutest coverup 6. bring a beautiful floppy hat to protect yourself if you are getting too much sun 7. get a manicure and a pedicure beforehand !!!
Makeup: I started off by applying Tarte BB Tinted Treatment 12-Hour Primer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen in Medium to my face. Other alternatives that I also love are the Lumene Time Freeze Anti-Age Color Correcting Cream (which I reviewed in my previous post about my latest NewBeauty Test Tube), and L’Oreal Broad Spectrum SPF 15 Sunscreen Youth Code BB Cream. I then applied Illamasqua cream blush in Rude to the apples of my cheeks, but as I previously stated, you don’t need blush on the beach. It is just my preference when I am pale. Following that I used the Brow Bar To Go by Whitening Lightning on my eyebrows, but this is another step that you can skip. I then curled my lashes with my Billy B Beauty’s Eyelash Curler and applied Tarte Lights, Camera, Splashes waterproof mascara to my top and bottom lashes. Finally, I applied Buxom Full-On Lip Polish in the shade Emily- pink chiffon to my lips.
Clothing and Accessories: Jeweled Push-Up Bandeau Top and Ruched Hipkini in Coral Blaze. The coverup is from Victoria Secret but from last summer and it is no longer available. The hat in the picture was purchased at a store in Greece a few years back. The sunglasses are from Chanel a few years ago. My flip flops are California Footwear Co. also from a few years ago.
