Spring 2014 Fashion Trends Report!

It’s winter in January and freezing outside! What distracts you from thinking about this awful weather that chills you to the bone? For me, I just keep thinking about the spring; flowers blooming (I LOVE tulips), trees growing lush and green, warmer (but not hot) weather, and more colorful/lightweight clothing. Don’t get me wrong, I adore winter fashion and bundling up in a fluffy leopard print jacket while I sip on hot coco (with peppermint marshmallows) and jump in the snow like a child. But I love the spring (not just because my birthday is in April) because the fashion is divine, it gets darker outside later in the evening, and I love the spring aroma that lingers in the air.  So, needless to say, I am excited about the spring and the new fashion trends that come along with it!

I have been doing my research on Spring 2014 trends online as well as through magazines. Elle, Glamour, Instyle, and Harper’s Bazaar (just to name a few) have listed amazing trend reports.

Some Spring 2014 trends include (but are not limited to):

  • Metallics
  • Iridescence/Holographic
  • Athleticism
  • Pastels (Harpers Bazaar referred to this as “candy crush”, which is adorable)
  • Cropped Jackets
  • Crop Tops
  • Wide Legged Pants
  • Tea-length Skirts
  • The Shift Blouse
  • Fringe
  • Embellished Details
  • Floral
  • Graphics

Of course, there are many other 2014 spring trends but the ones mentioned above kept popping up over and over again. I would like to experiment and try all of these! I will be honest, I am not a huge fan of the wide legged pant or the tea-length skirt trends. I think these looks are fabulous on many people, but I am not sure I’ll love it on myself. I am 5’4 and while I am not super short, I am far from being tall and feel as though wide legged pants and tea-length skirts might make it appear as though I am drowning in them. Regardless, I am going to give them a try because I do enjoy experimenting with different trends, and who knows…I may end up changing my mind and loving the way they look on me! You never truly know you don’t like something until you try it. Even if I think I look silly, I will still wear them with confidence because I believe that with confidence you can pull almost anything off!

I think you are spot on with all the trends! I already bought some of the wider leg pants. I especially like the lace ones by Michael Kors.

I really like what you said about trying things on and wearing it with confidence. There’s enough rules out there to follow, but i think fashion is all about the attitude. This article is great though, because it makes happy to know i can still recycle my wardrobe! Great!!

Thank you! Yes, I think that confidence is definitely the key and you’re right, fashion is all about the attitude! I’m so glad you like the article, and I always love recycling my wardrobe. Sometimes it’s nice going through your closet and pretending like you’re going shopping in it haha! Sometimes I find things I forget I even had, it’s awesome 🙂
